The Burner 12-Hour Endurance Downhill

NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION FEES AND 3RD NIGHT OF LODGING IS FREE!

Alright all you gravity freaks, get ready to end your 2009 season in style! 12 hours of all you can handle downhill on the gnar terrain at Angel Fire Resort.  We are racing all day and into the NIGHT!  This will be an amazing weekend for spectators and riders.  As you guys know, we're rocking THREE TRACKS for the Red Bull Burner, and we're here to give you the low-down. We've got a tried and true favorite and TWO NEW COURSES to get your stoke meter pinned.

The Lowdown

The Burner is a 12-hour endurance downhill (extreme) mountain bike challenge geared to sport-, expert- and pro-class mountain bike riders. The race will start at 9:00 am on Saturday, October 10th, and finish at 9:00 pm. The winners of the challenge are determined by total number of laps in the 12-hour period.

Last Chance to Register

The clock is ticking so register today on Bikereg.com! We would like to take a moment and clarify the "150 rider limit". The 150 rider limit means 150 riders on course. Since a duo or team will only have one rider on course at a time, this means that a duo or team counts as one. So technically we will have more than 150 competitors participating in the event. So when you go to sign up, don't think it's getting to full if the number is over 150. If it lets you register, then it means there is room for you to sign up.

New Tracks!

Three of Angel Fire’s top bike park DH trails will be utilized simultaneously for the event. All trails will finish at the Chile Express chairlift for uphill access back to the start of the courses. The event start will be a mass start staggered by rider class-level. Categories will include solo, dual and team entries. Over $5,000 in cash and prizes will be distributed to first to third place riders in each category and class, with top cash prizes awarded to solo riders.

TRACK #1: This is the straight up World Cup Track: lots of rocks, great flow, and all the gnar you junkies have come to expect from Angel Fire!
TRACK #2: New last year, the "Supreme DH" is a GREAT track. It starts within 100 yards of the Chili Express Chair lift and traverses the area just to the right of the chair lift. This course is going to be a great time on two wheels, with some steep drops plus a few jumps and berms near the bottom.
TRACK #3: Is a super fun flowy greenish/blue type run, that we're planning on having serve as the "recovery" course It is a fun easy course anybody can ride so all you begginers and sports there is a sweet course for all you guys. This course will also be great for the solo guys and gals who need a rest and still achieve a lap count.

So About Those Lights...

Riding after dark will require the use of approved front mounted bike lights! We have two local bike shops that will be supplying rental lights and other equipment- Sport Systems and Bikeworks- but this will be limited. All riders will be required to run lights for the last 2-3 hours of the event, so please be prepared. Tech support will be available at the base area adjacent to the chairlift, although riders are responsible for their own repair and equipment replacement.

We look to grow this event to become an annual end-of-season tradition at Angel Fire!

Venue

Three adjacent downhill courses will be utilized simultaneously from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Courses will be taped and marked, closed to the public, patrolled and marshalled. Terrain will be varied from rocky, technical riding on a Fastburner course, to flowier, slower riding on a “recovery” trail or two. All trails are for advanced riders, and it is the rider’s discretion to which trail they will use for each DH lap.
