Q: Do I need a NORBA/USA Cycling license to race the Burner? A: As of right now, the Burner is not a USA Cycling sanctioned event, so you do not need a USAC license to participate.
Q: Will I need lights or will the courses be lighted? A: You bet your arse you'll need some bike lights! We expect that only 2 - 2.5 hours of the event will be run in the dark, but all riders MUST have approved lights on their bike, for safety. Riding after dark will require the use of approved front mounted bike lights! Riding after dark will require the use of approved front mounted bike lights! We have two local bike shops that will be supplying rental lights and other equipment- Sport Systems and Bikeworks- but this will be limited, so please be prepared.
Q: Will laps be timed? A: As of right now we're working out the logistics of timing each and every lap made on the mountain, but that is the plan, Stan.
Q: I'm a SPORT or BEGINNER class rider, can I still race? A: You bet! Basically the classes really add up to "Open" and "Amateur" but due to the nature of the race, we wanted to emphasize the fact that this is a race for skilled riders ONLY. There are plenty of Sport class riders out there that are more than capable of racing this event, please use your discretion when signing up.
Q: What if another rider "catches" me? Do I have to let them pass? A: Darn right you do. Period, end of story. Please allow all riders going faster than you to get by as soon as you can find a safe place to do so. This race is about how many laps each team can throw down, not just one timed run. Don't be a jerk, let those fast guys pass.
So there's a few questions that folks have already asked us, but basically we need to know what YOU want to know, so fire away with them thar questions about this event. If we think other folks will want to know the answer, we'll figure it out and post it here. In the meantime, you can send your queries to the H.B.I.C. (Head Biker In Charge):
